2018 Emergency Services Golf Day

Nardy House is the recipient of fund raising undertaken by the Emergency Services. The Police, Paramedics, Ambulance services and the SES combined for the 2018 Emergency Services Golf Day.

The Combined Services hosted an evening with the entertaining big man of cricket, Merv Hughes, at the Vicolo Restaurant in Merimbula. The night was a sell out.

Merv Hughes graciously donated his time for this evening and it was a very funny evening. Merv told enlightening stories of Test Match plane flights, efforts at subterfuge and the “all will come out” supplied by none other than the pilot, who inadvertently was the “give up”. He fielded questions from the floor and his honest responses to fear related to fast bowlers and end of line batsmen gave a sense of impending doom. This fear was not alleviated by a Captain’s assessment of who should go out to bat first, out of the three tail-enders. “ Toss a coin” does not engender confidence!

Merv Hughes backed up for the Ambrose Golf Day on Friday and continued his generosity: signed bats, balls and T-shirts and again told cricket tales and answered questions. He is a very warm and personable sportsman who provides the community with a commendable role model. Nardy House wishes to thank him for coming to the Bega Valley to support us.

The Golf Day was well supported by donations for raffle prizes,  silent auctions and the golf trophies. The donations were valuable and there was competition to take part in and win the trophies, raffles and the auctions. We will publish a list of supporters. Their efforts are invaluable and they ensure that our cause is brought to public attention.

This was a really enjoyable two days. The organisers again did a tremendous job on our behalf. A big thank you to the organizing committee
