Nardy House is designed to be the permanent home of six people with extremely high physical disabilities. The house operates as all homes do: as a base from which a person interacts with the community. Normal household routines operate are changed to accommodate this interaction. The facility was completed with help from the Ryder Cheshire Foundation. This philanthropic group continues to support Nardy House and has representatives on the NHI Board.
A separate facility on site is designed to provide short term and crisis respite (STA) for up to six people with profound physical disabilities. The building of this facility was assisted by a grant from the State Government. The building was completed with the help of many local businesses, organisations and individuals. The respite facility operates on a twenty-four hour/seven day a week basis. The facility offers a service under NDIS- Supported Temporary accommodation (STA) at the COMPLEX CARE LEVEL and is available to individuals with private insurance to provide rehabilitation and trauma care.
Nardy House
The concept to develop Nardy House came from a group of Bega Valley parents who cared for children with profound physical disabilities and complex care needs. These parents realised, that eventually, they would be unable to meet the demanding role of caring for their children.
They also realised that when and if their caring days ended, their children would be placed in aged care nursing homes as this was the only housing option available. The alternative was to provide a secure and appropriate form of home that was equal to the quality and care received from the family.

Our Board
The Board’s role is to oversee the use of any funds made available to Nardy House by participants through the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) for the delivery of services to people with profound physical disabilities. The Board also oversees the use of any funding from other sources (e.g. insurance company clients) and donations.
