Dysphagia can be a high risk for those with a profound disability. Coughing and choking is a common occurrence which needs careful food preparation and monitoring whilst participants have their diet and fluid intake.

Staff at Nardy House have completed education on “what to do “in the event of a participant with a foreign object lodged in their airway.

Sharad Ghimire can be seen using the dummy specifically designed to teach staff how to perform the back blows and chest thrusts required to assist a conscious person to remove foreign objects from their airway.
