Nardy House Highlights for 2023

Over the past 12 months we have seen many changes to Nardy House. The most exciting change will be the opening of the hydrotherapy pool hopefully mid-2024. The pool will be available to anyone who has a disability, or injury, and has a physiotherapist/hydrotherapist program in place. We are currently looking at hydrotherapy training for staff to assist the hydro – therapist, and some staff will be sitting their bronze medallion early next year.

The participants of Nardy House have had many social outings and wonderful experiences. Their happy demeaners and positive attitudes is a reminder to us that no matter what is going on in their lives, what experiences or illnesses they have, they always find a way to enjoy the moment. What an inspiration they are.

Some of the outings experienced by the participants were participating in a parade at Moruya, swimming at Pambula Heated Pool, enjoying breakfast by the seaside at Narooma regularly, whale watching, checking out the farmyard at Oaklands in Pambula and travelling to Mogo Zoo at Bodalla. We were especially entertained by the monkeys at Mogo Zoo, who entertained us all whilst we were having lunch near their enclosure.

“Do it for Dolly” day was held this year to help Dolly’s family fund raise. The proceeds go towards Dolly’s own dream of bringing the community together to celebrate kindness and everyone to unite in taking a stand against bullying. The participants at Nardy raised over $120.00 to go towards this fundraiser. What an effort!!

The wheelchair access swing is now operational  and has been a great success amongst the participants, who can now enjoy this activity without the restriction of being wheelchair bound.

We have welcomed several new staff members to Nardy House and will be saying goodbye to a few. One staff member has completed her Bachelor of Nursing and will be commencing her New Grad year at SERH in 2024. Many have completed or are due to complete their Certificate lV in Disability and two staff members are going on to do their Bachelor of Nursing next year.  Well done everyone!!!

All staff would like to thank all those who have continued to support us over the 2023 period and would like to wish you all  a very happy new year.
